Biography of Actress Carly Pope


Carly Pope is a Canadian actress born on August 28, 1980, in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is the sister of actor Kris Pope. Carly has been a dancer during her childhood until she entered secondary school. Eventually, she switched to drama during her high school years.

Carly Pope was discovered when an agent saw her perform in the school’s stage production. Thereafter, Carly was seen auditioning for some professional roles. When she finished high school at Lord Byng Secondary School in 1998, Carla already played her first role, which is as a cheerleader, in the made-for-TV movie, “I’ve Been Waiting for You.” Another role followed-up her first film role in the independent feature “Disturbing Behaviour.”

Suddenly, after several acting experiences, Carly Pope came back to her home country to attend her first semester of college at the University of British Columbia. After six months of school, she went back to acting and played the role of Samantha McPherson on the show “Popular.” This show urged Carly to go back to Los Angeles, California.

While in Los Angeles, Carly Pope was involved in several other roles. She became a part of the made-for-TV movies “Our Guys Outrage at Glen Ridge” and “A Cooler Climate,” which also starred Sally Field and Judy Davis.

Carly Pope’s show “Popular” has really become popular and it earned the attention of industry watchers. She was then noted for her excellent performance in the show.

In 2001, Carly played a part and co-starred with screen legend James Earl Jones, in the low-budgeted film “Finder’s Fee,” which was directed by “Survivor” host Jeff Probst. She also starred in the movie “The Glass House,” with actors Leelee Sobieski and Diane Lane.

In 2002, Carly Pope became part of the famous show “Orange County.” Then in 2003, she appeared in several television features including the Canadian miniseries “Hemingway vs. Callaghan,” “Our Guys,” and “Purple Haze.” She appeared in the Paramount release “Snow Day,” a children's comedy with actors Pam Greer and Chevy Chase.

Carly Pope still flies home to Canada once every six months. But she is making a home in Los Angeles. She finds interest in reading and poetry. She also speaks several languages other than English, that of Italian, French and Spanish. Pope enjoys spending time with her brothers whom she is close to. She also enjoys long walks and she is learning on how to play the guitar. This hardworking beautiful girl is really tough and has a bright future in the industry.
